4月30日 Office 2007I am trying to switch to office 2007, however after installation, every time when I open Word, I got message "The function you are attempting to run contains macros or other content that requires macro language support." I have Endnote and Acrobat add-ins. So I disabled them. But still I got the same error. Then I disabled all the add-ins, it is fine. No error any more. But once I have either of them enabled, I got this message. Eventually, I figured this is because when the Office 2007 were installed, it did not install the "Visual Basic for Applications" by default, which is required for macros. Finally, the problem got fixed after 1 hr fight. 3月16日 Navigating Away From Gmail when Downloading AttachmentsI always have this problem when I download an attachment, I have to click go back button to go back to Gmail. Sometimes, go back even doesn't work. I have to type Gmail.com. Just googled a solution. The reason this happens is that I use Tab Mix Plus extension. So in Tab Mix Plus, uncheck "prevent blank tabs when downloading files". It works like a charm. And check that box again, the problem occurs again. So both positive and negative tests show this is the problem. Good luck, Firefoxers and Gmailers! 7月22日 VirtualWiFi 用一个无线网卡同时连接无限个无线网络记得以前和Horsie讨论过类似的问题，好像当时是问能不能同时用两个无线网卡同时工作来加速网络速度。但是，这个“同时”连接我觉得意味着能在几个网络中切换的意思。 感觉这个东西和Thinkpad上面自带的Access Connections差不多，AC也可以在几个网络之间切换。有没有办法在一个电脑上用几个网卡？能不能加速网络？Just curious.

Let me tell you the whole story.
I bought a mini PCI wireless card Intel(R)Pro/Wireless 2915ABG from buy.com. Note this is mini PCI card, which you have to put IN your laptop, instead of PCMCIA card, which usually can slide into the laptop. Before you install the mini PCI card, you have to dissemble your laptop. You can find detailed instructions for Thinkpad T4X series here. The postion of your mini PCI slot is usually beneath the touchpad. You can snap the mini PCI card into the slot just like install memory (if you have done that before). At this point, DON'T BE TOO HAPPY TO FORGET CONNECT TO THE ANTENNA! The antenna wires are labled by main and aux. And you just push these two ends to the wireless card hardly. Then just put everything back. Make sure you put all the screws back to the original postions. There are three types of screws, type 1, 2 and 3, respectively. Mess up these screws may cause your motherboard damage.
OK, now here is the problem. If you pay more than 40 dollars to buy an IBM mini PCI card, you are fine. Just reboot and enjoy. If you are like me, a deal hunter, and only would like to spend $25 on an Intel wireless card. Then here is the problem. After you boot, two beeps and you should get message "1802: Unauthorized network card is plugged in - Power off and remove the miniPCI network card." ALL OF THESE ARE JUST BECAUSE OF THE GREEDY IBM. The $25 and $40+ cards are essentially the same, both of them are from Intel. The only difference is just IBM change the FCC ID of the card and have the extra $15+ go into their pockets. And when you boot thinkpad, it will check whether the ID is in its whitelist. Surely, if you don't buy from IBM, the ID won't be in the list and the error message will display. At this point, don't like me, follow stupid IBM and remove the card. You can simply disable the card from BIOS/Network/Internal Wireless Card. Thanks for Qi Xin giving me this desicive link, which explains this problem and provides some solutions. I just used the no-1802 utility, which is written by a PKU guy and you can get it from here. This little program needs to be run under real DOS. So just run this program in DOS and go back to BIOS to enable your wireless card.
 You are done! Based on my experience, this no-1802 utility works for T42. But it has been reported not to work for T43. In the T43 case, if you really want to do it, maybe you have to mess up with your BIOS.
Although this thing took my two evenings, I feel very excited when I fixed it. During the two days, I took apart and put back the laptop for 5 times.
1. Open it to install the mini PCI card. Btw, I wanted to clean the CPU fan. Unscrewed the fan, but found it is hard to took off. So just give up. Put everything back. HOWEVER, FOUND THREE EXTRA SCREWS! 2. Realize those three were for the CPU fan. Open it again. Put those back and all other screws back. 3. Start up and got the 1802 error. The stupid thing is I was mislead by IBM, and open the laptop for the third time to remove the card. 4. Got all the instructions and want to try again. Put the card back. Found signal is very weak. 5. Suddenly realize I didn't connect the antenna. Open it for the 5th time. Post a linux wallpaper finally, enjoy!

Run "gpedit.msc", then go to "Local Computer Policy" --> "Computer Configuration" --> "Administrative Templates" --> "System" , on your right-handed side, double click "Turn off autoplay" in "Setting". Choose "Enable" autoplay "On all drives".

How to turn off the Windows Messenger autostart:
Run "gpedit.msc", then go to "Local Computer Policy" --> "Computer Configuration" --> "Administrative Templates" --> "Windows Componets" --> "Windows Messenger", on your right-handed side, double click "Do not allow Windows Messenger to be run" and "Do not automatically start Windows Messenger initially" in "Setting". Choose "Enable" both.
